Tip #1: Check the Ductwork
First, you are going to want to check the ductwork. To keep your commercial heating costs down, you need to make sure that air is getting to where it should. Leaks in your air duct system can be expensive.
You can often identify ductwork issues via strange sounds produced as air leaks through the ductwork. You can also hire a commercial HVAC technician to find and fix any leaks in your ductwork.
Tip #2: Check Air Filters & Blower Fans
In a commercial building, you will want to replace your air filters regularly. You should replace your air filters every few months and have a plan for regularly replacing your air filters. Your air filters help remove pollutants from the system.
When they get clogged, not enough air will flow through your HVAC system, which is why it is important to have a plan for your maintenance team to change out the air filters, or you can hire a commercial HVAC technician to come and change all the air filters in your building every few months.
Tip #3: Get a Maintenance Check
A commercial maintenance check is more than just a visual inspection. With a commercial maintenance check, the technician is going to take care of your HVAC system.
They are going to check all the parts inside of your system. They will add lubrication to parts that need it so that they can maintain their flexibility. The technician will inspect all the parts' quality and replace any parts that may be worn out.
You should get your commercial HVAC unit inspected at least twice a year, once before you start using the cooling system again and once before you start using the heating system again. A maintenance check can allow you to avoid issues down the road by fixing any damaged parts before you start using the system.
Tip #4: Install a Humidifier
In the winter, the air can get dry, which is why you may want to add a humidifier to your building. A humidifier will add some moisture to your air. This will make your building more comfortable during the wintertime.
If you want to keep your commercial heating costs down this winter, make sure you don't have any holes in your ductwork, change your air filters regularly, get a maintenance check at the start of the season, and add a humidifier to make your building more comfortable.
